Yang hits the front in Honda Classic
Korea's Yang Yong-eun put himself in prime position to lift a maiden US PGA Tour title when he snatched the halfway lead at the Honda Classic on Friday.
Yang, who is a multiple winner on the Asian Tour, carded a second round five-under-par 65 for a 133 total to lead by one stroke lead at PGA Palm Beach Resort in Miami. He snared five birdies for a bogey-free round.
Sitting one back are overnight leader Australian Robert Allenby and Americans Will MacKenzie and Jeff Overton.
The Korean has played in America for several seasons and will be looking to join compatriot K.J. Choi, an Asian Tour honorary member, as a winner on the US PGA Tour.
His biggest career victory to date was in 2006 when he beat a top field which included Tiger Woods at the HSBC Champions in Shanghai.
Compatriot Charlie Wi, who started the day in tied second place, fell off the leaderboard after a frustrating 73 which included four bogeys. He is seven shots behind Yang heading into the weekend rounds.
