Jeev bags USA top ten finish
India's Jeev Milkha Singh fired an impressive final round of eight-under-par 64 to finish tied seventh at the Turning Stone Resort Championship on Sunday.
Singh, the 2008 Asian Tour Order of Merit winner, started his round strongly with a birdie on the third hole followed by an amazing eagle on the fourth hole at the Atunyote Golf Club at Turning Stone Resort in New York.
He continued his fine form with two more birdies on the seventh and ninth to reach the turn in 31.
The Indian ace carded another three birdies on his back nine for a blemish free round to end the tournament with a four-day total of 14-under-par 274, three strokes behind joint leaders Matt Kuchar and Vaughn Taylor of US.
Thanks to this performance, Singh rises one place in the latest Official World Golf Ranking to 48th.
Kuchar and Taylor will continue their play-off on Monday after play was suspended due to darkness.
In Japan, Asian Tour member Daisuke Maruyama of Japan continued his rich vein in form with a strong finish at the Coca-Cola Tokai Classic 2009.
Fresh from winning the Asia-Pacific Panasonic Open last week, Maruyama signed off with a three-under-par 69 to finish in tied ninth position at the Miyoshi Country Club West Course.
Maruyama's four-day total of seven-under-par 281 was seven strokes behind tournament winner Ryo Ishikawa of Japan.
In Europe, 2000 Asian champion Simon Dyson of England, won the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship after closing with a six-under-par 66 for a four-day 20-under-par 268 total.
Asian Tour members James Kamte of South Africa and Sweden's Johan Edfors finished in tied 26th position after signing off with matching 70s for a four-day total of 278.
Current Order of Merit leader, Thongchai Jaidee of Thailand ended his campaign in tied 42nd place on a 280 total.
The final day of the tournament was played on Monday after strong winds forced the abandonment of Saturday's third round.
