CHAN YIH-SHIN (TPE) SECOND ROUND 67 (-4) TOTAL 133 (-9)

It has been a long time since I last had such good scores. Everything in my game is good. I felt I played even better than yesterday. I sank many good putts especially on the back nine (started from 10th tee).

It is easier to play in the morning because it is not so windy. It is tougher in the afternoon. I had one long putt on the sixth hole today from 20 feet. I also made a par on four. I made a mistake in my yardage and found the bunker. I chipped out to about 20 feet from the pin and made that crucial putt for par.

I’m very happy to have a chance to be in the leading group. I like the pressure and I’m eager to do so. It has been a long time since I’ve been in this position.

(When asked why he is always smiling) Well I’m leading at the moment so that has kept me smiling. I think anyone would be smiling if they were in this position too. I haven’t been playing that well this year but my confidence is back after shooting some amazing shots in the last two days. I’ve struggled with my putting in the last eight months.

Eagle details: Par five second hole (502 yards). I used a seven iron from 198 yards and it landed nine feet from the pin.

JOONAS GRANBERG (FIN) SECOND ROUND 62 (-9) TOTAL 134 (-8)

I didn’t make any putts yesterday and that’s the big difference. It was normal but solid golf. I made many putts and missed only one green. I had a nice eagle on the last where I hit a seven iron (200 metres) approach and made my 10 feet eagle putt.

My confidence is much higher now after I won in Malaysia (Worldwide Holdings Selangor Masters). I had a good birdie on the 14th hole from 12 feet. It is going to be a tough two days but it will really matter on the last day. This is my first time here. It is a nice place but I don’t like gambling.

ADAM GROOM (AUS) SECOND ROUND 69 (-2) TOTAL 136 (-6)

I played really well but got off to a slow start. It is a tricky course. It is all about your tee shots. You need to get them in play and that will give you a couple of birdie opportunities. I did lose some shots in the end but I held it in there.

I’ve been working with my coach Adam Fraser back in Australia. It has been going well for me so far. I finished third in Malaysia and had six weeks off after that. We start getting busy now and it is a good time to start playing well.

I haven’t been in contention for quite a while and it is nice to give myself a chance of winning. I’ve definitely forgotten about the Selangor Masters (he four putted on the last hole to lose the title). I have two more days to go and hopefully I’ll still be right up there on Sunday afternoon.

THAWORN WIRATCHANT (TPE) SECOND ROUND 67 (-4) TOTAL 137 (-5)

My left hand was numb yesterday from my wrist to my thumb. I don’t know what happened. I woke up and it was numb. I could hardly grip my club. I wanted to withdraw but told myself to play through the pain. I was two over on the first nine yesterday and was so angry that I didn’t care about the pain anymore. It is quite surprising how I finished on one-under.

The thought of withdrawing yesterday did cross my mind on several occasions but

My hand is much better today. I shot a four-under and I’m very pleased. It was a solid round with no bogeys and it feels like a new day. I’m quite confident that I will do well in the next two days.

ZHANG LIAN-WEI (CHN) SECOND ROUND 71 TOTAL 142 (EVEN PAR)

I didn’t play very well with four birdies and four bogeys. I had a bad round of chipping. This is a gold course where you need to chip very accurately. It will pull your game down if you don’t. I was two over after 16 holes and I knew I needed to make a charge. That two birdies might just have saved me.

I hit it close on the last two holes. I birdied the eighth hole from two feet and had one footer on the last. It was a good way to finish but I should have played better.
