Asian Tour to raise funds for Myanmar and Sichuan relief efforts
The Asian Tour will be organising a disaster fund-raising golf day at the Sentosa Golf Club on Sunday, June 1 to raise funds for the victims suffering from the devastating aftermath of Myanmar Cyclone Nargis and the Sichuan earthquake.
The catastrophes have saddened the lives of many and several of the Asian Tour players led by Kyi Hla Han, Executive Chairman, Asian Tour have pledged their commitment to take part in this fund-raising event.
“We are extremely saddened with the recent disasters that have occurred in Asia and we hope that the continued rescue and aid efforts will bring more hope and assistance to the people stricken by these unfortunate disasters,” said Han.
“The Asian Tour hopes to do our part by raising funds for all these victims through this golf day,” added Han.
Asian Tour regular, Gavin Flint of Australia will be among several of the Asian Tour players lending his support for the event. Other players who have confirmed their participation include Singapore’s Lam Chih Bing, Myanmar’s Zaw Moe and Peter Downie, Director of Golf, Sentosa Golf Club.
“It’s really heartbreaking to know that so many innocent victims are suffering because of these unfortunate disasters. Through this fund-raising event, I hope to do my part to help these victims in whatever way I can,” said Flint who has been residing in Singapore for the past year.
All proceeds from the Asian Tour Disaster Fund Raising Golf Day for Myanmar and China at Sentosa, which is the Home of the Asian Tour, will be donated through the Singapore Red Cross.
