Jeev ties 6th in Japan
India’s Jeev Milkha Singh extended his fine run with a tied sixth finish at the Crowns Tournament in Japan on Sunday.
The 2006 Asian Tour number one, who has already produced two runner-up finishes this season, carded rounds of 68, 67, 70 and 69 for a six-under-par 274 total, three shots behind winner Tomohiro Kondo who won the title in a play-off.
Liang Wen-chong of China, the reigning Asian Tour Order of Merit champion, enjoyed a top-10 thanks to rounds of 67, 68, 70 and 71 for a 276 total while Thai star Prayad Marksaeng showed a welcome return to form after a back injury by tying for 12th place. Prayad shot rounds of 68, 70, 69 and 70.
On the Nationwide Tour, India’s Arjun Atwal, winner of the Maybank Malaysian Open this year, settled for tied 16th place in the South Georgia Classic. Atwal, the 2003 Asian number one, shot rounds of 74, 71, 69 and 71 for a 285 total and finished 11 shots behind winner Bryan Decorso.
