Top 10s for Strange and Kingston in Abu Dhabi
Australia’s Scott Strange produced a steady finish at the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship as he fired a two-under-par 70 and claimed joint seventh place alongside South African James Kingston on Sunday.
Strange, a two-time winner in Asia, chalked up four birdies against two dropped shots at the Abu Dhabi Golf Club for a nine-under-par 279 total and was six strokes behind runaway champion Martin Kaymer of Germany. Kingston was one under after 14 holes as he enjoyed a solid finish firing three birdies in his last four holes for a 68.
The duo finished six strokes ahead of Thai stalwart Thongchai Jaidee who was even-par for the day. Compatriot Chapchai Nirat carded his best round of 70 for a 288 total to finish in a tie for 50th position.
In United States, Korea’s Charlie Wi shot his second consecutive 67 to claim tied 22nd place at the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic on Sunday. His five day total of 16-under-par 344 was two strokes above compatriot Yang Yong-eun who shot a 69.
D.J Trahan took the title after a 65 in the final round.
