Asian Tour rules at US Open with Parkin
For the first time, the Asian Tour has been invited to send a referee to the US Open which begins at Torrey Pines, San Diego on Thursday.
David Parkin will represent the Asian Tour at the year’s second Major where Angel Cabrera of Argentina is the title holder.
Parkin, the Asian Tour’s Director of Operations, has been a rules official at many of the world’s top golf tournaments previously including the Presidents Cup, US Masters, British Open and World Golf Championship events.
“It is a great honour for the Asian Tour to be represented at this week’s US Open,” said Parkin.
“I would like to thank the USGA for this invitation as it is the first time that an Asian Tour official will be at the US Open. It is a wonderful opportunity for me to be involved with one of the world’s most prestigious championships and I hope to put this experience to good use on the Asian Tour.
“As many of the world’s leading rules officials are gathered at the US Open, it will also allow me the opportunity to exchange ideas with other respected officials in the staging and running of golf tournaments.”
