Ye is leading Chinese at World Amateur Team Championships

Benny Ye Jianfeng, who turned 17 earlier this month, was China's leading performer at the World Amateur Team Championships in Australia, where he and fellow Omega China Tour competitors Zhang Xinjun and Huo Wei finished 38th out of 65 teams.

Scotland won the Eisenhower Trophy for the first time in 50 years, beating the USA by nine strokes with a 20-under total of 560 for 72 holes, the second-best score since three-player teams were instituted in 2002.

The top two strokeplay scores from each three-man team were counted each day for the Eisenhower Trophy, which was played at the par-72 Grange Golf Club and the par-73 Royal Adelaide Golf Club.

Ye, the Shenzhen Nanhua High School student who finished runner-up in this year's Kunming Championship on the Omega China Tour, shot rounds of 77, 75, 73 and 76 for an 11-over total of 301, finishing tied 69th out of 192 players in the individual table.

Zhang Xinjun, the 21-year-old who led this year's Luxehills Golf Championship in Chengdu for three rounds before finishing fourth, carded a 23-over total of 313 (76-77-81-79), matching Huo Wei (77-80-77-79), the 24-year-old who is based at Mission Hills.

Meanwhile, Chinese Taipei finished joint-31st on 17-over. Teenager Alan Hung Chien-yao, who finished joint-seventh in April's Kunming Championship, impressed by tying for 37th in the individual table with a five-over total of 295 (71-69-76-79). Huang Tao finished 16-over and Hsieh Chi-Hsien finished 22-over.

Hong Kong came 53rd, with Mickey Chan their top finisher on 18-over, although he was only six-over after the first three rounds. Stuart Murray finished 36-over while Eric Saxvik was 39-over.

The China trio were part of the national team squad that competed in both the Luxehills event and the Tianjin Championship in September as they embarked on a series of competitive events leading up to Australia.

The amateurs shone in both Omega China Tour events. At Luxehills, Zhang, Ye and Kevin Huang Wenyi occupied placed four to six, while David Wei Wei finished joint ninth and Huo tied for 13th. In Tianjin, Zhang finished sixth, Huo tied for 12th and Wei was joint-16th.
