Strong Asian presence at Oakland Hills
India’s Jyoti Randhawa will be aiming to make up for last year’s disappointment at the US PGA Championship when he tees off in the season’s final major on Thursday.
Randhawa, the Asian Tour number one in 2002, endured a miserable debut when he was forced to retire from the first round due to a viral fever and the Indian will certainly be determined to make up for that disappointment.
He is amongst a strong Asian Tour contingent who will tee up at Oakland Hills Country Club.
Current Asian Tour’s Order of Merit leader Mark Brown of New Zealand, India’s Jeev Milkha Singh, Thailand’s Prayad Marksaeng, Australian Scott Strange and Korean Charlie Wi are also in this week’s elite field.
Singh, currently second on the Asian Tour’s Order of Merit, will enter the PGA Championship in good form as he claimed a second win of the season in Japan two weeks ago.
Prayad, Strange and Brown featured in the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational last week and will be looking to make a stronger impression at the year’s final major.
