Event Preview - four to watch this week
Chapchai Nirat
After having won his second Asian Tour title in Vietnam on Sunday, Chapchai will be on top of the list of leading contenders this week. He is currently ranked third on the Asian Tour’s UBS Order of Merit and is the only player with a chance of challenging China’s Liang Wen-chong for the UBS Order of Merit crown. With a big drive to his game, he is tipped to lead the way at the lengthy Phokeethra Country Club.
Chawalit Plaphol
Thailand’s Chawalit Plaphol has produced two top-10s that included a runner-up result at the Hana-Bank Vietnam Masters last week. With a strong game behind him, the Thai will be determined to end the season on a high note this week at the Johnnie Walker Cambodian Open.
Anthony Kang
American Anthony Kang has been on the rise in the closing stages of the season this year notching up three-top 10s from his last six events. Competing in Asian Tour’s first ever event in Cambodia this week, Kang will be eager to break the deadlock this year at the Johnnie Walker Cambodian Open.
Thaworn Wiratchant
Thaworn Wiratchant lifted his ninth Asian Tour title this year at the Midea China Classic before posting three other top-10s this year. He bounced back after a slow start to the season and has found the right touch to his game on the greens. Thaworn realises the task needed to stay in the leading fray this week as he is tipped to stay among the front runners at the Phokeethra Country Club.
