Five to watch this week
Liang
Wen-chong
With eight top-10s that includes his win in Singapore, Chinas
Liang Wen-chong will remain a firm favourite in this weeks
Kolon Hana Bank Korean Open. Liang will be geared to impress as
he will be without his coach Kel Llewellyn who has been his guiding
force since the start of the second half of the season.
Thaworn Wiratchant
Thailands Thaworn Wiratchant proved his mettle when he claimed
his ninth Asian Tour title at the Mercuries Taiwan Masters two weeks
ago. It signaled the intentions of the Thai star who aims to make
a late charge for the Asian Tours UBS Order of Merit. In his
strive to make it to the top of the list, Thaworn will be on the
prowl in Korea hoping to improve from his 11th place ranking.
Rahil Gangjee
After a steady season last year, Rahil Gangjee has been eager to
emulate his 2006 performance. With a swing change and a mental game
that is slowly coming back into shape, the Indian stalwart is determined
to get back into the leading fray and better his 2006 performance
where he finished in third position at Woo Jeong Hills Country Club.
Prayad Marksaeng
Always a contender in Asia, Thailands Prayad Marksaeng will
continue his steady game this season where he produced five top-10
finishes from 11 events, that includes his recent top five result
two weeks ago. After spending time competing in Japan the past few
months, Prayad has shifted his focus to Asia in the hopes of striking
it big before the season comes to a close.
Simon Yates
Scotsman Simon Yates let his chance of a title win slip away in
the closing stages at the Midea China Classic but he will return
to Korea determined to erase his play-off defeat. With a trusty
new swing, Yates is confident of staying with the leading group
in Korea, a country where he won his second Asian Tour title two
years ago.
