Seven to watch this week

Mike Weir
The 37-year-old Canadian is among the top favourites for this week’s UBS Hong Kong Open. He defeated Tiger Woods in the Presidents Cup and ended a three year drought on the US PGA Tour with a win in Arizona. With a good run of form behind him, Weir will be eager to make a winning debut at the Hong Kong Golf Club.

Liang Wen-chong
With one win in Singapore and eight other top-10 finishes on the Asian Tour, Liang Wen-chong is the top performing golfer on the Asian Tour this season. He has in contention since the start of the year and is leading the Asian Tour’s UBS Order of Merit race. With the UBS Hong Kong playing a huge part in the ranking, Liang will be determined to cement his position and become China’s first ever UBS Order of Merit winner.

Daniel Chopra
The Swedish sensation recently nailed his maiden PGA Tour title this season and is eager to tee off the UBS Hong Kong Open on a similar note. A former Asian Tour regular, Chopra will be feeling right at home as he aims for the top spot in Asia this week.

Trevor Immelman
The South African star has one win in United States and is among the leading players tipped to stay in the top fray this week. Used to playing among golf’s elite players from around the world, Immelman will be hoping to stay at the front at the Hong Kong Golf Club.

Stuart Appleby
One of Australia’s top golfers, Appleby, with eight US PGA Tour titles, will be expected to stay among the leaders in this week’s UBS Hong Kong Open. With several near misses this year, Appleby will be eager for a breakthrough at the Hong Kong Golf Club.

Nick Faldo
Winner of three British Open titles, Nick Faldo is the leading Englishman tipped to challenge for the top spot this week. Having competed in top level tournaments and his impressive track record, Faldo will be seen as the player that will stay in the top of the pack at the Hong Kong Golf Club.

Juvic Pagunsan
The Filipino young gun finished runner-up last year and enjoys returning to a course which suits his style of play. Having enjoyed his maiden win in Indonesia, Pagunsan knows what it takes to deliver a winning run as he aims for a repeat performance at the Hong Kong Golf Club.
