Angelo Que means to learn and return

Filipino star Angelo Que was eyeing a quick major return after making an early exit in his British Open debut this week.

The Asian Tour double winner shot rounds of 76 and 78 to miss the halfway cut at Royal Birkdale by five shots but said the lessons of competing on links golf has opened up his eyes.

“It was really a good learning experience for me. I had a great week, had some good moments and met a lot of great people. I’m not disappointed at all. I’m still proud to have played in the Open,” said Que, this season’s Philippine Open champion on the Asian Tour.

Que struggled to cope with gale-force winds that swept through Royal Birkdale and said that he needed to improve on his shot-making if he is to be able to compete in the British Open.

The bubbly Filipino hits the ball with a high trajectory which made it all the more challenging for him in his quest to make the halfway cut in the year’s third major.

“I learned that I need to improve my game playing in the wind. That would be my goal in the future, to be able to handle strong winds because for sure, there will be other tournaments in the same conditions,” said Que.

“I want to be prepared next time and maybe for next year’s Open.”

Que had qualified for his first major through the International Final Qualifying at Sentosa Golf Club in Singapore in March.
