About the Course
The Orient (Xiamen) Golf and Country Club boasts an 18-hole tournament links course (including nine holes with night lighting) and a nine-hole mountain course, both designed by Ron Fream and lying within 246 hectares between the ocean and the mountains. The fairways make use of the sea, beach and cliffs to enhance the challenge and visual interest for golfers, while the fast greens are challenging, even for professionals.
Orient (Xiamen) was the venue of the first Asian PGA Tour event in China. In February 2004, it was chosen by West Coast Ladies Golf Tour in the US to host the first professional international ladies' golf tournament in China.
Since 2006, the Orient Golf Group has organised the China Ladies Tour, with each event held at a different Orient venue. Orient (Xiamen) was the host venue of the 2008 Orient China Ladies Open, which offered US$250,000 in prize money.
Orient (Xiamen) has hosted an event on the men's professional China Tour since 2007, with Dell, which has its Chinese headquarters in Xiamen, coming on board as the title sponsor of the event from 2008. Li Chao won the tournaments in 2007 and 2008.
