GS CALTEX MAEKYUNG OPEN RELATED STORIES

Event Preview: Four to watch this week

The Asian Tour heads to the Nam Seoul Country Club for the GS Caltex Maekyung Open this week. Sanctioned together with the Korean Golf Association, this will be the second Asian Tour event in Korea this season. We look at the Asian Tour contenders likely to put up a strong challenge for a slice of the approximately US$470,000 full field Asian Tour event.

Thaworn Wiratchant (Tha)
The 10-time Asian Tour winner has been having a quiet spell since the start of the season, with a 14th place finish at the Sail Open as his best showing so far. The Thai veteran will be eager to get back to his winning ways and prove that his 10 wins on the Asian Tour is not a flash in the pan.

Gaganjeet Bhullar (Ind)
One of the brightest young talent on the Asian Tour, the 20-year-old Indian has posted three top-10s in the six events that he has played on the Asian Tour so far. Having recently qualified for the British Open in July, Bhullar will be riding on his rich vein of form and will be a good bet to notch his first win on the Asian Tour this week.

Mo Joong-kyung(Kor)
Mo last tasted success at the Singha Thailand PGA Championship last year. Since then, he had to endure a slow start to the season with his tied-11th finish at the Asian Tour International as his best finish so far. However, playing in front of the partisan home crowd this week could possibly ignite his charge towards winning his third title on the Asian Tour.

Noh Seung-yul (Kor)
Noh will be another one of the home favourites coming into the tournament this week. The 2008 Asian Tour Rookie of the Year has a good record of playing well at home. Having painfully come close to winning the title last year, the 17-year-old teenager will be hungry for success on home soil and add another victory to his maiden one won at the Midea China Class last year.
