Event Preview - Five to watch this week
Anthony Kang (USA)
Currently third on the Order of Merit, Kang ended an eight-year title drought at the Maybank Malaysian Open in February. He followed up with that victory with a tied 12th placing at the Enjoy Jakarta Indonesia Open and a tied 10th place at the Singha Thailand Open. Kang will be aiming to improve on last year’s tied fourth place finish and claim his second Asian Tour title this season.
Thaworn Wiratchant (Tha)
Since winning his 11th Asian Tour title in Macau, Thaworn has been pushing to equal compatriot’s Thongchai Jaidee’s record of the 12 Asian Tour titles. Following his victory, Thaworn chalked a tied 14th place finish at the Mercuries Taiwan Masters and placed tied 18th at the Iskandar Johor Open.
Thaworn, 43, will be determined to make a title assault in Cambodia and better his two previous attempts in 2007 and 2008 where he signed off in tied third and tied eighth respectively.
Lam Chih Bing (Sin)
Lam will relish a return to Cambodia after a second place finish last year which gave him the confidence to claim his first Asian Tour title in the following event.
The Singaporean ace is riding an impressive form after making 11 cuts in 14 tournaments. His best finish this year is a tied eighth place at the GS Caltex Maekyung Open in Korea.
Marcus Both (Aus)
Both has come close on several occasions to claiming his second Asian Tour victory. The Australian has four top-10 finishes so far this season, two of which are tied third place finishes at the Asian Tour International in Thailand and the Hero Honda Indian Open. Both sits in ninth place on the Order of Merit on US$241,882.
Kodai Ichihara (Jpn)
Ichihara is one of the most consistent players on the Asian Tour this season as he only missed one cut in 14 tournaments. He has yet to win on the Asian Tour but will be determined to push for a title assault in Cambodia. The Japanese has five top-10 finishes so far this season and will be gunning to claim his maiden Asian Tour title.
