Neither course drains very well, though the greens are generally in good
condition, even after rain. The tee boxes could do with some work, though. The
Baron is more of a challenge, but the Baroness is a more picturesque course.
Both can be a test when the wind blows! Well worth a visit. MIke Quinn
January 14, 2005 Both courses are in good condition and the greens are
excellent and very true. The tee areas need to be maintained better than they
are at present. Of the two courses, I prefer the Baron. Beadlow Manor offers a
good test for all handicaps. Paul Carter July 15, 2005 Have
just returned from a golfbreak here with 5 friends (outstanding value!). It's
fair to say the hotel rooms have seen better days but they were adequate as somewhere
to sleep and shower between rounds. Food, service and friendliness of staff were
all 1st class. The courses too were excellent, both being in very good condition
(tee boxes could do with a little work). Each course offers a good test for all
levels of player and you get a real feeling of playing a different hole each hole,
not like some courses where you get the feeling you are playing the same hole
over and over again. All of us agreed that we will be returning next year. Neil

I opted to try the Baroness Course for a twilight 9 holes. It wasn't a good start when I was overcharged (I have had no response to my request for a refund or a credit). The Baroness course is a picturesque course, interestingly designed. But - and it's a big but - at least 3 of the greens on the front 9 were in a very bad condition (the others had grass of varying lengths making judging putts interesting). On one particular green there were three large areas on each of which there were 10-15 carpet tile sized pieces of turf. These had clearly be laid as an attempt to repair the green. Instead, the edges were lifting badly and the grass was dying. This green was simply unplayable. It's a shame. Beadlow's poor customer service and frankly unforgiveable greens mean I won't be going back.
