HGC is set within an Urban landscape of Warehouses and residential properties a sort of Central Park type of place. Central Park in theory should not be there in similar vein neither should a Golf Course be where it is in Greater Manchester - Having said that what you get at Houldsworth GC is nothing short of a genuine real gem of a place.
At 6,300 yards the track is not overly long but the layout with tree lined fairways, and water a plenty makes the vista a real unexpected pleasure. Well defined fairways, challenging rough, water traps, go to make this course a great days Golf and I would recommend it to anyone. Societies would love it. I played it in May and the Greens were a little disappointing; the greens were good and flat but slow however I was advised by members that the greens do get faster as the summer progresses. I must say that I would happily play this course again, and if I were a member be very proud of how the course is presented.
Pro Shop and Members friendly, Catering and Bar more than adequate. If your in the South of the Greater Manchester Area needing a game of Golf do not hesitate to try Houldsworth (if you can find it) the experience is rewarding.
