18-hole course with "tree lined fairways and undulating features bordering on the Trent & Mersey Canal with a small river flowing through the entire golf course"
No longer a Municipal but a privately operated Course with pay + play... Now run by Golfers for Golfers improvements unbelievable and ongoing. Name not given October 28, 2011
This is the best golf course I have played and the practice facilities are the best I have seen. Bob September 5, 2007
This course is as good as most in the area including private
ones. Fairways/greens are excellent, only the lack of sand
in the bunkers lets it down, then again no worse than on many
private courses and the 19th hole is a bit on the small side
but can accomodate most Societies with all the usual catering
facilities, what is really special is that attached to the
course is a private club which positively encourages newcomers
to the game to obtain a handicap and play in the competitions
which are held every week of the year, anyone new to the game
wishing to learn how to proceed correctly should consider
joining as should any golfer new to the area, all are welcome
no limit on the membership, always open with annual club membership
under £50.00 and season tickets available from the council
for green fees one could play golf 7 days a week for less
than the price of one game a week, competitors have a handicap
range from 2 to 28 and an active seniors (mid week) ladies
and juniors sections exist. Anyone interested in joing the
club should contact the Secretary you will be made welcome. David September 21, 2006
The course is in excellent condition this year with the greens and fairways being well looked after. Its not a difficult course to play as even with a poor first shot you can still look to reach the greens in two on par fours. The only gripe I have is that it tends to get over booked at the weekends with long waits at tee offs. Which does not help with the enjoyment. Simon June 27, 2006
Good course not too challenging if you can hit it straight. On the down side the greens need rolling, too many spike holes where the drainage is bad. Overall ** Pete Warburton April 8, 2006
As secretary of the newly formed "Prince of Wales Golf Society", I arranged our first comp at Malkins Bank.
The weather has not been kind to us this year but Malkins was in exellent condition considering. We received a very hospitable reception both from the pro shop straight through to the caterers. I would recommend any new society to visit there, it was value for money and an excellent round of golf...
Thanks once again from 28 satisfied Prince members. Eddie Price April 5, 2006
I recently visited the course (17th July 2005) having not been there for number of years. I was impressed with the progress to the course, a lot of trees have matured and the greens and fairways were in good condition. The condition is much improved from 3-4 years ago and wouldn't hesitate to go back again now. Phil Tatler July 25, 2005
