About the Course "The course is not overly long..., but with no par 5s and par 4s of almost 400 yards or more, it is not an easy par to achieve, particularly when the wind is blowing. It is a tough but fair test, and tremendously good value for visitors."

Reviews
With stunning views of the Pennines, Lake District and hills of the Yorkshire Dales, Appleby GC is set in a remote and idyllic spot. The course is on common land, so has to contend with the presence of grazing animals - the greens are protected by wires and there are no fairway bunkers. The greens, however, are quite superbly maintained, playing well throughout the year, and with the land being free-draining, the course is generally always playable. The course is not overly long at just under 6000 yards (par 68), but with no par 5s and seven par 4s of over 400 yards, it is not an easy par to achieve, particularly when the wind is blowing, as it invariably seems to. It is a tough but fair test, and tremendously good value for visitors. With a new steward in charge of the clubhouse, there is a good choice of food on the menu and a very welcoming atmosphere for visitors. I can thoroughly recommend Appleby GC to anyone who hasn't yet played it.
