I've been
a member at Ramside since it opened. It's a demanding course,
where shot placement is at a premium. There are seven lakes
and a number of small ponds to contend with. And as the newly
planted copses grow in, the fairways are becoming tighter
all the time. The Par 3, 15th is the signature hole.

I have
been a member at the Ramside for 4 years now, and the course
has improved dramatically each year. The Ramside is a great
challenge for all levels of golfer. Since the blue stakes
were removed last year, all trees are now in play making the
Ramside a real thinking golfers course.

Played
in a large comp at Ramside 16/9/02. I enjoyed the layout of
the front 9 which has some super holes - 1st (demanding drive
for A1 position) 2nd (go for it for a birdie chance at a short-ish
par 5) 6th - a short par 4 with water guarding the green,
7th - go short and safe or take on the lake splitting the
fairway for an easy birdie. The 2nd 9 takes some getting used
to, with 2 90 degree par 5's where you were at a loss what
to hit off the tee, but the 15th makes up for that - a delightful
172 yd par 3 over water which tests the bravest! Didn't get
to play the Cathedral loop which is shorter and looks much
less developed. Now has 14 lakes, but not all come into play.
Greens were true but impossible to read and fairly inconsistent,
with some evil pin positions. Lots of new trees with staking
a lottery. Off-course facilties excellent - check out the
massage chair in the plush changing rooms! Food was iffy -
but there were 80 of us. All in all worth a visit if you're
in the area.
