Course Description River Blackwater winds through this championship length, rolling parkland layout set amongst natural woodland and rolling countryside and renowned for its impressive views.
It has hosted European PGA Seniors Tour event in 1997.
Course review This is a fine, challenging and all round entertaining golf
course.
The greens are in fantastic condition, fairways good, and rough prohibitive.
Signature holes for me are the 8th (an absolute killer if you fail to get off the tee, but really satisfying when you get down in par or better) andthe 14th. The latter being a ferocious uphill dogleg left after a 250yrd approach to the turn encorporating a 3 tier green. My best is a bogey five after hitting GIR with a 4 iron.
For a course of such quality (admittedly, it's no Augusta, but it's well looked after and mature) the green fee is reasonable. My only gripe is that it is hard to play in the winter as a visitor due to the tee off restrictions (after 1pm). There is also a 9 hole par 3 course to kill time (not a great course but fun nonetheless) and a range. Definitely recommended.

A local course which I had yet to play. Played midweek as a visitor and though the weather up to the day had been wet, the course was in good shape. Tee boxes, fairways and greens all were in excellent condition considering it was mid winter. Only a couple of tees were carpet, but these did not distract from the ability to play a good tee shot. Regarding a fellow reviewee, there are a couple of stand out holes, the 14th is tough. I managed to get to the edge of the green in two, then preceeded to make a 7! That notwithstanding, I thoroughly enjoyed the round, the final 3 holes are tough, more so, when fatigue sets in!
