Easy walking layout combining man-made lakes new trees and well placed bunkers with mature trees and hedgerows.
The Lakes, with generous fairways, large greens and water hazards, is used annually as a PGA European Tour qualifying course.
Course Reviews
I played The Five Lakes Golf And Country Club on Sunday 12th July 09. There are 2 courses at this venue, The Lakes but I played The Links.
The Links as you would expect is a very open course but in this instance fairly bland and unchallenging, although the last few holes were a bit more interesting. The fairways were in excellent condition with very long grass hugging each side, however what lets this course down are the greens which were by far the worse I've ever played on (I've played for 30+ years). They were dry, cracked, bare and basically were basically un-playable. I would have abandoned the round had it not been for a new driver I was trying out.
I complained about to the club house and in fairness the pro offered a voucher to play The Lakes next time I visit free of charge. My view is that the course needs to be closed and remedial works undertaken. Dwilkins July 13, 2009
