undulating parkland course in rural Essex commanding some beautiful views across the River Blackwater. Tight and challenging. The 16th
Century clubhouse is comfortable and friendly. A good day out!
Course Reviews
Generally very good value for money and some testing holes. The design takes a bit of getting used to as virtually every hole is dead straight and it feels like someone designed it with only a ruler and set square. However, a pretty enjoyable experience all round, pleasant views and decent greens. Friendly bunch in the clubhouse. Would go back.

The best thing about Forrester Park is the greens, always a challenge and usually very pacey. The drainage on the course is second to none meaning that trolley bans are rare and the course is playable year round. The fairways and tee boxes are in average condition sometimes lacking a bit of definition.
Overall the course is a big challenge to golfers of all levels. It's very tight through the front 9, with punishing woodland and out of bounds markers down the right side on the first 5 holes but does open up eventually and becomes a little bit easier. This course is more about accuracy the distance.
I don't pay green fees as I'm a member but know that they are very cheap in comparison to some nearby courses so value for money is excellent and the membership prices, especially the Colt membership (under 30) is the best value for money you'll find in Essex.
Clubhouse is an old converted barn with a very homely feel to it and all the staff are very welcoming. The food and drink are a bit over priced but the Chef does knock up some good nosh!

A cracking course in excellent condition.
The greens, of the up turned saucer variety, were especially
fine and testing. Mid week fee of £17, means you really
have to save excellent value for money. I live only 2 miles
away, and yet this in only my second round, and I have to ask
myself, why?! Russell Jepps May 15, 2006
