About the Course
Golf de Saint-Jean-de-Monts is reputed as one of the best courses in Western Loire.
Course Reviews A course really of two entirely different halves. The first nine wanders through pine forests whilst the second nine is set amongst the dunes and are totally "linksy" in character.
The forest holes are all interesting with clearly defined targets and straightness off the tee is paramount. Any diversion into the pines will almost certainly cost you a shot !
The second nine and only be described as an exhilarating ride with some superb elevated tees the view from which makes your mouth water at the thought of your drive splitting the fairway. A fair and enjoyable test.

Finally the welcome in the clubhouse is genuine and friendly with good food at reasonable prices. The whole place feels "right" from walking into the clubhouse to reaching the 18th green.

Played this course in early April 2006 with my wife and it was in first class condition. At the time, groundstaff were testing a new watering system as this area of France can be very hot and dry in Summer.
A great test with very tight fairways between high pine trees on the front nine. If you're wayward with the driver, leave it in the car!!! The back nine continues as a links running along the sea with some spectacular views. These back holes are set in undulating sand dunes. Modern club house with full catering facilities and friendly staff. There is also a driving range attached.
