9 hole irrigated putting green
This is a lovely course.
It has a driving range and also grass tees to practice on before
you play, plus a nice practice putting green.
Visitors are more than welcome.
The greens are very well kept and some of the holes are quite
challenging. It suits golfers of all levels.
The only slight problem is the walking distance between some
of the tees and it's possible to end up on the wrong hole (unless
you use the buggy with GPS, nice luxury). Paul Minihane May 17, 2006
Played 18 holes there with a friend today as I'm looking to join a club in the area.
First the downside, I have to get it out of the way as I can't find another fault. It's undulating as in very hilly and if you're not too fit play here regularly and you soon will be!
The upsides : despite paying £30 each to guest at a course you can join for only 700 a year, we were both very suprised by this course. The 18 holes are varied with real thought having gone into the challenges of each hole but the course always seemed fair even when challenging. There are short testing par 4 holes with definite birdie potential and even I made one (shock). The course is no gimme at par 72 yellow sss 70 as there are challenges also which is why I think the course is so fun to play.
The fairways were lush green and the tees and greens were very well kept. This course was as well kept as many 'private members' courses I have played and is a credit to the greenkeepers. The greens were suprisingly fast and looking lovely. Although on ex farmland it was more like a parkland course and played like one too with the surrounding views being exceptional.
The clubhouse is fairly basic but nothing wrong with it at all and the food though I didn't try it on this occasion was obviously very fairly priced, I'll try it soon as I will be going back for sure and I'm tempted to join.
I would recommend a game at this club to anyone though I think charging £30 for visitors on a Friday is a bit steep, I'm sure members guests are quite a bit cheeper.
