Also known as Aberdelghy, this Lisburn City Council owned course is always in adequate condition.
Short, it is devoid of any Par 5's and bunkers, however, the front 9 holes are so tight that the trees and thick rough that flanks the narrow fairways will present hazard enough. Veer left or right of the fairway and you will almost certainly need to count your ball lost. In fact, the 5 mins you can spend looking will be the biggest waste of 5 mins EVER!
The back nine opens up nicely and becomes much more inviting, with some nice Par 3's and good, open par 4's.
Rounds are cheap enough at £12 weekdays (£5.50 for Juniors) and £14 weekends. The only facilties are a pro-shop which is reasonably well stocked and a clubhouse which having never been in, I can't comment on.
My only criticism of this course is that it plays to extremes. The front nine is just too tight and if you deviate from the tee, your just adding shots to your card. On the other hand, keep it straight and you'll easily drive the green on at least two different par 4's (ie 4th & 6th). The fourth hole is the best example of this.
If your looking to play Golf in the Greater Lisburn area, Lisburn Golf Club off the A1 is by far the best course, however Aberdelghy presents a more affordable and accessible alternative.
