When I arrived and had to pay green fees to the old lady in the bungalow next door I thought this was a bit of an easy touch course. Turns out that it is a tricky but fun to play course. Yes the holes are short (remember that distances are in metres not yards) but many tee shots and approach shots are made blind and the greens are often small and undulating. The 2nd has a tricky drive over a narrow pinch point in the fairway, whilst the 9th is just a beautiful golf hole. This is a definite recommendation from me.

I have played about 30 Links courses in Ireland and Northern Ireland (Spanishpoint,Carnee, Enniscrone, Sligo´s Rosses Points, Donegal, Cruit Islend, Rosapannas, Ballyliffins, Portstewards, Portrushes etc.) Now going to Kenmare Killeen, Ballybunions, Dingles, Dooks, Watervilles, etc.
But.... Otway has been one of the most always remembered - not because of the playable like Glashedy, Dunluce etc. not because of club society like Portrush, Sligo no no no...
Because it stops the "everything me just now..."-feeling and drives back to the history when Mr Smith is putting in the green on my way with Mr Galway and I am waiting with a small whiskey... After they finished and waived the cap I drive with iron to the fairway and maybe have some small talk with them...
Old golf history has landed and you can feel it (if you are clever enough!!!) All my friends had the same feeling between Sandy Hills and Clashedy links...
