About
Rosslare
"Links land is known for its ability to absorb water and
Rosslare is no exception with the course playable all year
round.
The prevailing south-westerly winds, make the Links both a
challenging and an enjoyable test for golfers.
The Links is composed of wind-swept hills, burrows and sand-banks
that constitute typical Links terrain. The potential for golf
was first exploited by an architect, Mr. James Farrell
who founded the club in 1905.
The Links were recognised as a venue of Championship quality
in 1934, when the Irish Close Championship was held at Rosslare.
Since then many other championships have been hosted by the
club including the Carrolls Irish Professional Machplay Tournament
(1982)"
