Course Reviews 2/9/09 - this morning i played southern valley golf club. it would be better described as southern valley cricket club as the greens were more suitable for a twenty twenty match of cricket than golf. i have played  SVGC a few times now over the past few years and gradually the course condition has slipped every time. A new club house is being built and you can see that all the money has gone to this and the course has suffered. When i saw a greenkeeper on a mower cutting the greens I thought it be more appropriate that he use a spade to dig them up. £16.50 for 18 holes is normally good value. In this present condition £10 too much. For a course that has a great links type feel its a shame its got to this condition. Im no greenkeeper but the damage to the greens tee boxes and fairways looks in places if not everywhere terminal. The club should put a sign up or advise paying players of the poor condition. sorry but i cant think of anything positive about this !

Played 9 holes for £14 today. First time I've played here even though it is nearest my home. I will never play here again. Can't tell the difference between the fairway and the rough most of the time. Greens are terrible. Worth playing here once just so you appreciate your usual club. The queues to tee off tells me there is no real booking system. Just cram as many in as you can.
