Like all local golf courses that were created for the benefit of the community Bacup is an acquired taste. The members are in the main devoted to the layout but visitors may find it a little eccentric.
Bacup is a 9 hole tight Moorland Course that is usually in a reasonable condition. Greens run to about 8/9, but can be fiery during a dry spell of weather. Fairways like the Greens are OK without being spectacular. Your chances of scoring well will very much depend on the wind, after all Bacup is a Pennine Town. All in all a worthwhile round of Golf when you consider the price.
Tip : Club House only open during "Members" days, if you are a visitor call ahead.
