Beacon Park golf course is a hard and challenging course
i
particulary like the 12th hole 160 yard par 3 i had a birdie
on that particular hole last time i visited the course im
am not particulary pleased with the cost especially for junior
golfers 7 pound is far too much for a junior 5 pound is more
of a reasonable price and i hope you consider this option
thank you.

This is a superb example of Donald Steel's brilliance in
course design and planning. Nestled in the Lancashire Countryside,
Beacon Park is a fantastic course excellently maintained by
BIGGA Member - Billy Merritt who heads up the Geenkeeping
team. Excellent greens, striped and tree lined fairways make
this a course to be relished.
Superb Clubhouse facilities, Brasserie and Terrace Bar with
leather furnishings, ambient decor and superb cuisine, make
this the total package.
And then there's the 20 bay floodlit driving range and practice
area with chipping green and practice bunkers.
It really doesn't get much better!!

The club has changed a lot in the last 18 months and certainly for the better.
Both my son, who is 9, and I play the course and he finds it a challenge but interesting. The course is hilly but you soon get used to it. The club house is concise yet inviting and the driving range has a lot to offer.
At £9 for juniors and £12 for adults the course is well worth the money.
I have to say that on many golf courses players moan at juniors holding play up, here they encourage the players.

I have been playing Beacon Park for more years than I care to recall and have until the last few years considered it to be a fine example of Donald Steels imaginative course designing talent.
Unfortunately, Mr Steel's good work is being undermined by the green keepers, who have taken it upon themselves to alter the course detrimentally. I refer not only to the hostile pin positions on most holes, but the fact that some greens are being extended so that the pins can be positioned on even more severe slopes making some putts impossible, putting off the green being almost inevitable. Apart from being very annoying this contributes to slow play which the scorecard says we should avoid at all times!
I play off 13, but the rest of my group have lower handicaps than this. The best player has been a member at many different golf clubs during the long period he has enjoyed playing golf and during that time has played many more golf courses through club competitions and he has never known anything like it.
Recently, we have noticed the greens are being hacked up by frustrated golfers. This is such a shame because otherwise the course is kept in very good condition.
The management have been informed on numerous occasions, but each time we complain it gets worse.
Being amateur golfers we play golf for enjoyment, not punishment. If this situation doesn't improve before our contracts expire, we will be looking for somewhere else to buy next year's contract.

Club's response to David
Our "Masters" Competition was played on Sunday 20 th September and is the culmination of our Club Golfing Year with players qualifying to play by virtue of winning the season's monthly Medals and our Board Majors.
The course was set up for that event and having played in the event myself and there were a couple of challenging pin positions which I happened to negotiate pretty well off my 15 handicap.
September is always the culmination of the season with the 4BBB major the preceding week.
I appreciate that visitors on the day will have found the pin positions a challenge. It is not the norm.
