Played BGC in late June (Senior Open) clearly this course has history and a reputation that is well protected by the members. So in that regard you can assume that the Bolton GC is very traditional. The track itself is out and in the 9th and 10th are furthest away from the club house. The walk is undulating but not severe so buggies are not essential, however they should not be ruled out for senior group visits.
Playing the course as a 10 handicapper I did not find the course that demanding, although there are a number of holes that are extremely difficult if you stray from the fairway. The day I played followed a pro-am competition and I suspect that the greens had not been cut for 24 hours, this made the Greens very slow, however this may not be the norm. Overall the course is fine, not to my taste but nevertheless a good track.
If you get the opportunity to play BGC then don't be afraid to give it a try.
OFF COURSE - Pro shop friendly and adequate. Club House - Friendly and Open for food which is competitively priced. (Dress Code after 7:00 pm)
BGC is not an "open course" so you will need to make a firm booking for a tee time.
