Course Reviews My golf course is a par 71 and is a fairly hard course. most
holes are over 400 yrds and it is a brilliant course. The par threes are quite short. The clubhouse is brill and sells all sorts of foods e.g snacks bacon barms and whole meals. It has a bar but i cant get served yet. The driving range is fab and helps get you in full swing for the round ahead.

Recently undergone a £1,000,000 re-furbishment, with new Clubhouse, Automated Driving Range and course upgrading.
Designed originally by the great James Braid the course is a Hidden Gem, and probably the best Public Course in Lancashire.

This is a really nice course. it has a well stocked golf shop with a friendly pro and a very nice driving range with yard markers various targets and greens / flags to aim for. The course itself is good with quite a few really long challenging par 4 s or 5 s . The first hole being a monster of a par 5.during the week they have a special where you get a round of golf and lunch for only 10.95 .Bargain.!!! Reallly nice food. They are in the process now of opening a larger bar area that will look out onto the course.

I am a member of the course and they are currently refurbishing the Club House again to make it look more modern and in order to hold more people. There is also rumours that the bottom few wholes on the front 9 are being land filled and brought up to the level of the par 3 7th so the course can drain better than it does at the moment, i really recommend this Golf Course and is a good experience for all.

I played there in a society on 2/4/06 and was disgusted with the state of the course. It had been raining hard during the week so the course should have been closed instead we played and the greens were under water and the tee of mats were too small and 6 inches deep in mud the so called club house had just been plastered and was still wet. It was a disgrace that this course was open at all this weekend. It is obvious to me that the course has had no care at all over the winter months and I will never play this course again, or recommend it to anyone else.

I played this course with 2 friends for the first time 15/4/06. What a hard course but an enjoyable one. I play off 28 (a complete novice) so the long holes were tough. I improved my game no end. As for the last review by Chris,if the course was that wet why did he play? I thought the upkeep was exceptional considering the rain we had. We are playing there again this Sunday 29/4/06.

This is my local course. As I don't play enough to justify joining a club, I am restricted to municipal courses due to the high price of visiting member courses. Of all the municipals I've played, this is one of the best. The views of the surrounding countryside are spectacular. The staff are friendly and currently, there is a lot of regeneration work going on throughout the course which will only serve to improve the already high standard. My scores have come tumbling down since playing this challenging course, I broke 90 for the first time last week and can't wait to ge back in it.

I'm a new member of this club after trying all my local municipal and private courses, this one offered the best balance of course condition, test of golf and value for money - Really is a course you should try out - Couple of Par 5's and a couple of BIIIIG par 4's - Always good condition and welcoming club - Busy at weekends.

Whilst I enjoy the course and its one I've played on for the last 8 years, it is getting a little tired. For a municipal golf course, I was disgusted to have to pay £16 in May for a junior sat/sun/bank holiday price. My 12yr old son has just caught the bug and being that he does not live in the Bolton area, it's pointless to get a membership but £16 is daylight robbery. I suggest the club check out other municipal prices for juniors as I certainly won't be playing there again with plenty of others at better prices!!!
