Originally constructed as a nine hole course in 1898, it was later extended to 18 by Gaunt & Marnock.
Location The Club lies within easy reach of Manchester and the "English Golf Coast" of Lancashire and Liverpool (including Royal Lytham & St Anne's, Royal Birkdale, Royal Liverpool, plus the Southport and Wirral courses).
It is within easy reach of Manchester (M61 is 2 miles away), Liverpool (M6 is 2.5 miles away) and the rest of Lancashire.
