Played 11/03/10 no temp tees or greens, course in excellent condition. Well done to greens staff.

Clare Park Lake - Suffolk
February 28, 2010

This is a little hidden gem. Although a small par 3 nine hole, each hole offers a challenge to anyone's short game. The whole feel of the place is one of a friendly, relaxed and enjoyable place to play golf. It's especially good for beginners or anyone who doesn't have five hours for a round. I would recommend this to anyone who finds themselves in the area. Great cake too!

Ellesmere Port - Cheshire
February 23, 2010

This  course has hosted the Wirral and Merseyside Championships for the past two years. The Ladies in 2008 and the Mens in 2009. All clubs commended the condition of the greens fairways etc. Both competitions were a resounding sucess. The standard of the course would have been the envy of any private club.  The green staff produce and maintain the course to a high standard throughout the season and endeavour to do as much throughout the winter, (although the 15th is a challenge) to provide ongoing improvement year on year to the course.  Improvements have been made by  Cadsart to the course paths, the car park & general clubhouse. Ellesmere Port is a really good course with a few challenging holes, the 2nd 10th and 17th particularly, when played well give you the feeling of why we play golf. Ellesmere Port is great value and well worth a visit. Groups are catered for and snacks and meals  are availble. Me and my fellow golfers play regularly and love the course.

Lundin Ladies - Fife - Scotland
February 18, 2010

Lundin Ladies Golf Course is celebrating its centenary in 2010. It was designed by James Braid and is an interesting 9 hole course enjoyed by its many lady members and guests. However, it is not exclusively for ladies. We have many gentlemen playing regularly and as visitors. The Standing Stones are a feature of the 2nd fairway and the burn that meanders through the 6th, 7th and 9th holes adds a challenge. Our greenkeeper keeps the course in great condition and we recommend this wee gem to all golfers. It is not always necessary to book, if you steer clear of Wednesdays. Check weekends for competitions. You will be very welcome!

Sandhill Golf Club - South Yorkshire

Fantastic course varied and challenging but the best thing about this course is it plays well all year round in all weathers although it can get quite windy, but that may change as the course matures and the trees grow tall,     *****

Hoylake - Wirral

I played this course in December 2009 and it was in reasonable condition although it was wet, cold and on temp greens. This is a tricky course, which it should be having been used as a practise course when the Open was in Hoylake. The half way house was however a surprise. Not that it was out of a car but it served hot pies and tea which was a treat. The par 3s are a good test with some huge bunkers protecting them. Any one playing here will not be disappointed especially as it has municipal fees.

Tamworth - Staffordshire

A very good course for beginners, with wide open fairways meaning lost balls are rare. The course plays very long, not far off 7000 yards, but is in good condition so reaching the greens in regulation is possible if you hit the ball well.
The only downside is the lack of distance markers and a course map. It means that playing there for the first time you will often have no idea of club selection when approaching the green.
Finally the last hole currently has a large bank of earth along the left. When this gets grown over it will create an intimidating 'stadium' type hole to finish the round, and really allow you to attack the pin.
The cafe is recommended, with coffee and a sandwich for £3.
All round a good days golf for any budget, I will certainly go again.

Tylney Park - Hampshire

Fantastic place to play golf. As a 17 handicap golfer living in the London area i took a day off and went to the course. i saw it when i stayed at the neighbouring hotel for a wedding. On arrival i met the club Pro who was very helpful and friendly. He couldn't have done anymore for us as we got ready to play, even coming out to the practise tee giving a few free tips as we warmed up.(unheard of these days)
The course was superb and really a sleeping giant. I have already booked up to go back this summer taking my society as well and have already started having some lessons with the pro. Thanks again guys...great place!

Golf Club Kitzbuehel-Schwarzsee - Tyrol, Austria

For anyone who enjoys the scenery as well as the course this is well worth playing. The course has some great holes and is certainly a good test. The par 3 9th played from the back tees is a long carry of close to 200 yards all the way to the green! the front 9 is flat but the back nine had me on my knees! The par 5 15th is only about 470 yards but all uphill and it's not a gentle climb. But then you are rewarded by the beautiful par 3 16th. A short hole but all carry over a ravine to a green surrounded by trouble. Definitely worth a visit.

Hart Common - Lancashire

This course is simply brilliant. Superb layout, big level tees, massive deep bunkers and the greens, well, you will have to look very hard to find any better. Anywhere! I pay £12 a round during the week and it's worth every penny. If it said marriot on the end of the drive it would be £60 a round.

Rudding Park - North Yorkshire

This course is part of a golf complex with hotels and chalets The course which is quite long has nice long walks to each fairway with the multilayered greens which are in good condition  the only problem with this course is the locals not knowing etiquette regarding time limits for lost balls or 4/3 balls waving players through when one or more holes ahead are free

Teign Valley - Devon

I'd be very surprised if there is a friendlier club than this in the country.  Visitors are given a genuinely warm welcome (rather than at many clubs where it is all to obvious you are there on sufferance because they need your money).  The course was well kept and a fair challenge.. it's not as easy as it may at first appear.  Greens and fairways excellent.  I'd recommend this course to anyone.

Walmer & Kingsdown - Kent

Good condition cliff top course. Great fun to play and it forces you to play a variety of shots, particularly when the wind is blowing!
