played last monday and playing again today at bootle, other than these 2 times the last time i played was over 6+ months ago and i can tell you its far better now than it was then the greens are much better in my opinion and the course as a whole is now being kept at a standard i think all can respect , i would recommend people living near it give it a go before going further afield , but what i am not saying is stop using other courses because this not only helps different courses funding wise but it also helps playing differant courses to bring you on as a player. speaking from 100+ handicap in early teens and now around a 25 handicap at 21 after a long spell of not playing.

At last some one is taking an interest in the golf course it was sad going down and down every year but now the council have taken it back from fairways investments its getting better every time I play it was the best municipal course you could ever play on but Sefton council least it out what a big mistake now we need a new club house and get some of our members back I hope so but don't hold your breath

Not played the course since last year when to tell you the truth it was going down the pan.
Played it yesterday under sufferance with a friend of mine who has been trying to get me to come back and has been singing it's praises.
Must admit I've been missing out on a diamond in the rough. The course is now being run by the Council and a local maintenance company and the course has improved beyond recognition.
The Greens & Fairways were great, Tees where a bit worn but the lads working there said they planned to work hard on them over the winter. The only drawback was there is a bit too much sand in the bunkers that I finished up in.
All in all good value at £11.50 during the week

I first played this course in 1976 aged 14 and since then its gone through many changes and to be fair the off course facilities are worst they've ever been because they're aren't any! No club house and a small pros hut.
They have tried to redesign the course to include a driving range which is just a big hill and I don't know if there are any plans to finish it off. Unfortunately the building of this range has ruined the 1st hole and the green on the 9th. The 1st has become a 120 yrd ptich and putt par 3 while the lovely big 9th green has now become a small pock marked green, very sad.
Now you may wonder why i've give it a 7.5 out of 10. Well, it's only 6 to play and the rest of the course was in magnificent nick when I played. You can tell that the green staff that are there take a lot of care on the actual course itself. On the whole the greens are great and run true and the holes are well defined with a fairway a fringe and then the rough.
All this course needs is a little investment off the course and some extra TLC on the 1st and the 9th, but to be honest for £6 its great value and I went round on my own in only 2.5 hours which is always great!
