Spending many business days in the North East of Scotland the opportunity to play Golf was frequent so as you would expect I have played a number of courses. Edzell is without doubt one of the best.
Firstly, the Course is for the most part excellent, the only slight imperfection is drainage but that is usually only a problem if the weather has been torrential. Fairways are cut tight and are not over generous therefore demand a reasonable level of accuracy. Bunkers are "true" bunkers and are present on every hole this presents you with some tricky shots if you are unfortunate to be in the sand. Once on the Green you will find them medium fast but very true, so all in all you will find EDZELL a Golfers Track in every sense. Topography of the landscape is mostly flat so walking is not a problem, although there are some inclines (take advice from Pro if in doubt).
Would suggest that June-Sept would find this layout at its best and a joy to play. Highly Recommended.
OFF COURSE Pro Shop excellent and friendly, and Pro always has a story to tell.
CLUB HOUSE Very Good Food, and reception, very pleasant.
MEMBERS In my experience they treat you like one of their own, very friendly.
If you're ever in the North East of Scotland then do yourself a favour get on the phone a book a round I think you'll be rewarded?

6 of us arrived on an uninviting morning, just as the rain stopped. This was Thursday 28th June 2012.
We decided to play and the Pro. Shop staff were excellent in getting us out to the course.
The course was in amazingly good condition, given the rain in the previous 3 days and the greens were immaculate.
Half way round we had low cloud come down, which took away the marvellous views we'd heard about, but all of the group enjoyed this course. It's a little gem!
We had good food and good service in the club house and went home very happy, despite the weather.
If you're going to play in the Blairgowrie, Alyth, Carnoustie area, then include Edzell on your list. It's a really great course.
