About the course The course hosted the Midland and Staffordshire professional and amateur championships as early as 1935. It has also been selected to host a regional qualifying round of the Open Championship on 17 occasions. More recently Beau Desert hosted the Carris Trophy.
Course Reviews Played the course on Friday 30th August 2002 on a particularly windy day. It's not long of the standard tees, not even reaching 6000 yards but feels a damn site further than that when walking it, quite a lot of ups and downs. The course itself is really pretty, virtually all of the holes would feature on many courses as signature holes. The greens and fairways were in fantastic condition and the rough and heather are quite brutal if you stray offline. It's one of those courses you could really do with playing several times as quite a few holes are blind off the tee, I hit a cracking tee-shot on the Par-5 18th only to find myself in a bunker in front of a ridge that ran across the fairway about 170 yards from the green...Would recommend anyone plays it, it's a real challenge and a lovely looking course, quite expensive and potentially expensive on golf balls too, I was lucky, lost 2 but found 4...
