If simon for some reason thinks i don't like bunkers he's very much mistaken or doesn,t quite understand what i was saying. i suggest he reads the comments again carefully so he can take it all in. Like every golfer i go in bunkers i don,t mind bunkers on some holes i,ve played on courses i even play for the bunker, but my ploblem is the condision of those bunkers and the fact that a number of bunkers have been taken out which is bad enough but then they,ve been left and not repaired and that is not on. You don,t need a Hotel chain behind you you only need to cut the grass and rake the bunkers. Its £17.00 at keele weekends and that's alot of money for people to play on a badly worked and run golf course. Theres alot of politics going on behind the scenes at keele and until someone comes in with the interest of keele as a golf course and not a tipping site, our beloved keele will never inprove. keele at the moment is not worth £17.00 and my overall rating for the club would be an easy 10, but keele is a club within a course and that is a poor 4.

I played Keele at the end of April 2011 and enjoyed it as usual. The greens and fairways were in good condition in particular, far ahead of the other municiple courses in the area.
The course has a great layout with scenic tree lined holes, each hole different to the next.
Some people need to be realistic as to what they expect, Keele hasn't got the backing of a hotel chain like De Vere or Marriot. Its a municiple course, priced to be available to all golfers. A few bad bunkers doesn't bother me, maybe Chris is so upset because he kept going into them!!
Keele has it all to be honest, a golf club that is perfect for ALL golfers of different levels. Maybe the best municiple in Staffordshire. Where else offers a really good 18 hole course, a par 3 course (that is perfect for beginners or a quick knock), buggy and equipment hire, restraunt and bar, and a driving range next door.
I'm looking forward to playing at Keele over the summer, and only expect the course to improve as it does every year.

keele...its brakes my heat to see what is happening to keele golf course since my last comments the course as been again violated. Bunkers have been leveled the 5th 7th 10th 14th 18th have no bunkers from the tee until you get to the greens, this is a totat disgrace, if for any possible reason can be given apart from the rubbish of the so called, it speeds up play. The way the bunkers have been letf to grow over or leveled as given any player who lands there a more harder shot to contened with than in the old bunkers,in the bunker its just sand and you know you take your medicine and just get out as best you can, now you,ve hit the fairway but now with no bunker your playing from an uneven badly repaired piece of ground many of witch still have the lip of the old bunkers to contend with, a not so conferdent or high handicap player now as more chance of playing a bad or duff shot into the trees or one off the many ditchs witch keele as incorperated thus creating ! the one thing there trying to avoid slow play..... to avoid slow play make sure the fairways and the rough is cut properly to lose a ball on a so called fairway is scandalous witch as been done many time at keele... keele deserves better so dose the members and the paying public. .....please nick warrol and the jack barker association stop before you distroy keele golf course altogether. chris pegg June 9, 2010
WITH REGARDS TO MY COMMENTS ABOUT THE GREENS AND BUNKERS... GREENS FIRST.... FORGET THE COLD WEATHER AND THE VOLCANIC ASH AND THE BROAD LEAF BENT GRASS, WE SEEM TO SUFFER WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS EVERY YEAR ... GREENS IN THE WINTER VERY GOOD SUMMER GREENS EXTREMELY POOR. GOOD,AVERAGE AND EVEN POOR PLAYERS WILL LOSE MORE SHOTS ON POOR CUT AND BADLY WORKED GREENS THAN ON ANY OTHER PART OF THE COURSE. THE GREENS ARE A MUST IF KEELE GOLF COURSE IS TO GET BACK TO ANYTHING LIKE IT WAS AS LITTLE AS 8 YEARS AGO... THE BUNKERS... LIKE MANY OF MY PLAYING COMMRADS I AM AT A LOSS TO WHY ANY ONE WOULD WANT TO ALTER THE PERFECTLY GOOD HOLES ON KEELE BY TAKING OUT SO MANY PERFECTLY PLACED BUNKERS. I HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT THE BUNKERS ARE BEEN ADUITED TO FIND OUT WHICH ONES ARE IN PLAY AND TO LEVEL THE ONES THAT ARE'NT.... TO MY KNOWLEGE ALL THE BUNKERS WHERE AND STILL ARE IN PLAY ....IF YOURE PLAYING GOLF. I'M SURE THE DESIGNER WOULD ARGUE HE PUT THE BUNKERS WHERE BEST SUITED F!
OR EACH HOLE. THE BUNKERS HAVE TWO FUNCTIONS .... 1 THEIR A TRAP FROM TEE TO FAIRWAY..... FROM FAIRWAY TO THE GREEN..... 2 THEY STOP THE HOLE LOOKING LIKE YOUR JUST WALKING DOWN A FIELD. THE BUNKERS ARE A VITAL PART OF THE COURSE AND SHOULD ONLY BE TAMPERED WITH BY BEEN RAKED AND SHAPED IF NEEDED. TO TAKE OUT BUNKERS IS TO ALTER THE SO CALLED HARDNESS OF THE HOLE THUS THE STROKE-INDEX MUST BE AFFECTED.....PLEASE LEAVE ARE BUNKERS ALONE JUST RAKE AND LOOK AFTER THEM LIKE YOU SHOULD.... TAKING OUT BUNKERS IS NOT GOLF. Chris Pegg May 9, 2010
ONCE AGAIN KEELES GREENS ARE TERRiBLE,IN NEED OF PLENTY OF WATER AND A DECENT CUT WOULD'NT GO AMISS. DOES ANY BODY KNOW WHY WE'VE GOT FAIRWAY BUNKERS IN THE ROUGH.....THE CLUE IS IN THE WORDS FAIRWAY BUNKERS.....ITS NOT HARD IS IT , COME ON KEELE ITS ONLY CUTTING GRASS. Chris Pegg May 9, 2010
