Course

Played this course for the first time yesterday and I was
amazed at how good it was.
The first thing I have to mention is the fantastic value for
money. We spent £21 each for our round on a weekday.
I understand that it is no more than £25 on a weekend.
The course is located to nearby Silvermere, a very good course.
Hoebridge does put Silvermere somewhat in the shade. There
are no bad holes on this course. There are a great deal of
elevation changes, plenty of doglegs and on the whole good
bunkering. The holes are a mixture of Tree Lined and open
holes. There are some good challenging long Par 4s but at
the same time some reachable Par 5s. The Par 3s are of varied
length, the toughest of which is the 16th. An uphill 200+
yard hole that often plays into the wind, making most players
reach for their fairway wood. The condition of the course
is excellent, although some of the greens were a little bumpy,
hopefully this will get sorted by the summer. I would give
this course 9 out of 10. There are 2 other courses also. An
18 hole Par 3, which is very good indeed. Most of the holes
are short but in good condition and well bunkered, set in
Pine Woods. The other I havent played which is a 9 hole, made
up of short Par 4s and a couple of Par 3s.
Definitely worth a look. I will certainly be back!!!

HGC is a fantastic place to play and enjoy Golf. The condition of the course is the best around for the money, and the fact that it is a pay & play. I became a member in May 2005 just because the greens are unbelievable!! I have become a single figure golfer due to the greens. Now I can putt on anything! It's worth a visit, if only for the greens. The facilities are second to none with a new short game area allowing you (as a member) to practice the vital short game skills that get you H'cap down. The course itself is well laid out and means you use almost every club in the bag. The next stage of improvement is the bunkers. It's a must play.

We went to play to celebrate a friend's birthday and what a nightmare. It took us and others (many) 2 hours to play 4 holes. The course was loaded and there was an obvious lack of management from the course personnel to ensure the play rate was maintained. We finally gave up on the 9th after 3.5 hours. When we went try and get at least some of the fees back we were told that this was not possible and that it is a Public Course.....
