Course Designer
The Club was founded in 1903 and the course designed by Herbert Fowler was opened for play in May 1904. James Braid had already become the Club's professional and was to remain in that capacity until his death in 1950. The New Course was opened in 1907.

The Club nestles in the heart of open and peaceful countryside 18m S of London on A217/B2032.
2m N of M25 J8 and close to both Heathrow and Gatwick International Airports.
The Old course has hosted over 60 major amateur and professional championships in its illustrious history, including the 1981 Ryder Cup , 5 European Opens and 23 News of the World Matchplay Championships.
