About the Courses Three 18-hole Championship courses and one 9-hole course of Surrey heathland surrounded by woodland of pine, oak and birch trees.

Key Tournaments held:
The East - Inaugural Curtis Cup, 1932; friendly match between US and GB&I (forerunner to Ryder Cup) 1926.
The West - HSBC Matchplay, 1964 - 2007: BMW PGA Championship, 1984 - present day: Ryder Cup, 1953: Canada Cup 1956
The Edinburgh - Wentworth Senior Masters

The West Redesign:
"The final phase of renovation and modernisation, which concluded in March 2010, involved the construction of 18 new greens and greens' complexes to USGA specification to ensure they perform to the absolute highest standards. All greenside and fairway bunkers were also reviewed, remodelled and where necessary removed with new bunkers positioned more 'in play'. The West Course is a challenge entirely in keeping with the demands of the 21st century game and, thanks to these renovations, is also 'future-proofed' for many years to come - a stern test, but above all a fair test. It examines every department of a golfer's game and demands shots played with every club in the bag.
Ernie Els said, "I honestly think we've succeeded in making a great course even better. Hopefully, Harry Colt is up there somewhere and looking down on us with a nod of approval.""

The 2014 BMW PGA Championship The 2014 BMW PGA Championship is the tenth in succession under the partnership between BMW, The European Tour and Wentworth Club.
It is the 30th anniversary of Wentworth Club becoming the permanent home of the Championship and it is also the 60th PGA Championship in a glorious history stretching back to 1955. What's more, it is 45 years since the Club's very own Bernard Gallacher won his PGA Championship title at the splendid Welsh links of Ashburnham.
