I play this course fairly regularly, for a bit of fun and as practice for the bigger courses around Newport.
It is a great course if you are new to the sport or want to touch up on your skills with a few water hazards and bunkers in the fairways. The course is a short 9 hole course with the option to play it twice to get the full 18 "experience".
The only major downside to this course is that being on the banks of the River Wye, when it has rained for a bit, it can get very muddy, but give it a day of sunshine and it dries out quickly. If you manage to play only a sunny day the walk around the course can be beautiful.
I believe that recently a lot of money has been spent on the course to improve drainage, bunkers, greens etc, this involves the arrival of 2 new "small" water hazards. I played only a few days ago and I must say that the greens were a lot better than I can remember.
