Clearly this course is loved by the members, but for a visitor with slight knee trouble this layout is a nightmare. Almost every hole is situated on the side of a hill, and almost every fairway has a sloped lay.
In terms of difficulty it depends whether or not you can play shots with the ball "above" or "below" your feet I suspect that the Monmouth Handicap rankings do not have many members below a 5 handicap.
Sadly there is no respite even when using a ride on buggy as your attention is mostly concentrated on keeping the buggy upright. This course is HILLY and cannot be considered "one of the most picturesque in Wales" as it boasts because all aspects of vista and negated by having to concentrate on remaining upright.
Off course- Club House Excellent. The members are friendly and generally welcoming; they take a delight in asking the walking weary "how did you like the course?" this banter makes the 19th more enjoyable in most cases than the previous 18. I would not wish to discourage anyone from playing this track, but I am not in any way exaggerating the undulating layout. This course will find out any walking problems or health issues and should not be attempted without due consideration.

What a gem, our society played yesterday and after a warm welcome had a fantastic day, glad we had buggies available mind, not for the faint hearted. The course was in superb condition with magnificent views and the greens lovely and receptive especially with the lack of rain lately (well done green-keepers). Lovely meal in the small but very welcoming club house. I'm sure we will return and I can recommend it to any other societies looking for a challenging but fair course.
