About Bidford Grange

Bidford Grange is under new ownership.

Set in 230 acres of delightfully landscaped Warwickshire countryside, our 18-hole par 72 championship length course is one of the longest and most challenging courses in England. The course, which can measure 7,233 yards from the back tees with a standard scratch of 74, is built like a links course. American bent grass greens are fully irrigated with a host of water hazards on the back nine holes, with another four running alongside the River Avon.
Perhaps the toughest tests on the course are the mammoth 600 yard 17th, the up-hill par-four 4th and the 233 yard "short" 7th. The front nine plays like a links course due to the open setting while the back nine poses a wholly different challenge with water coming into play on seven of the holes. Course management accuracy and nerves of steel are the order of the day as the holes wind their way around four large man-made lakes and border the River Avon.

Reviews

Just got back from a great weekend at the Bidford Grange golf and country club.
After reading the previous reviews me and the other 24 lads arrived fearing the worst... well we had nothing to worry about... We had a ball from Friday morning through to Sunday afternoon
The golf course was really nice to play... everyone enjoyed it, although the back nine was a little tough for the higher handicappers... the condition couldn't be faulted tho, apart from a couple of bunkers here and there... but that would be nit picking to be fair.
The hotel was lovely and clean... the room was clean and neat and tidy, with tv and coffee facilities.. bathroom was clean and well kept.
The lunch was excellent, as was the breakfast, the evening meal was fine, but it is common with mass catering to have a slight drop in standards.
The staff coudn't be faulted, friendly and approachable... especially considering the late nights we had with them. The next morning they was up bright and early and still just as friendly... they worked tirelessly throught the weekend...
It's a shame we are not planning going back next year and i for 1 will be looking forward to the next time we visit Bidford Grange.

NB:
Bidford Grange is under new ownership.

This place should be re-named a Faulty Towers. I arrived back yesterday after a trip with the boys for my mates 40th birthday. He was hoping it would be memorable; well it was for all the wrong reasons. I just can't begin to describe how bad this place is, everything is falling apart, the driving range is overgrown and we ended up walking around it collecting our own balls because there were none! The course itself is good but in need of a lot of TLC.
The accommodation and food need a special mention; in its day it was obviously a very nice place, but its day has turned to night!
The best part was when the buggies ran out of petrol half way round the course and you couldn't complain to the Golf Pro in the Pro Shop, coz there wasn't one.
The staff who work there did do their best and were accommodating, but under very difficult circumstances...

Hate to say it but this place is a dump. We played it as part of a holiday organised by golf breaks. The day before we played the Earls course at the Warwickshire and we were supposed to play the Kings course but were switched here due to a competition. Talk about opposites. The greens were dreadful with divots and mushrooms growing on them. The fairways awful and unkept. The bunkers should all have been ground under repair they were that bad. No pro shop, no bottled water in the bar. Just all in all awful.

Hardly a golf and country club as we know it, this is the second time in 2 years i have been there and it will be the last unless drastic changes are made. No lunch time snacks at the bar, no sky tv, beds not made for the first 2 days, no clean towels either, no brown bread at breakfast as "we don't get asked for any", 50 people playing golf and no bottled water available, "awaiting delivery" please be warned, there is a lot of potential here but not with the present management, it seems as if any thing is too much bother. General toilets were not cleaned over the weekend, hand towels were dirty.
They have a members bar and in 4 days i never saw a member it is a joke. The course is testing, but rubbish bins were never emptied in 3 days, cut grass over the fairways, petrol for the buggies was stored under the wooden decking, this is more like a self catering holiday camp. don't waste your money, go play the crazy golf course at Skegness, at least you will be appreciated by the staff. Sorry 1 good point was the "bar maid" Reah, but she was on her last days as we arrived.

Good game of golf nice clean hotel.

If you fancy a challenge then go straight to Bidford Grange. OK, so the place can be a bit rough round the edges but the thrill of getting par on a hole about 4 miles long is impossible to beat. The views from the high tees are sensational - forget the buggies - enjoy the walk!

Visited in Easter 2005 with group of friends, and we are very average golfers, but despite the difficulty of the course, we still enjoyed our rounds. Remember to book buggeys in advance, as we turned up on the first day to find they had none left, which you don't want considering Bidford is one of the longest courses around. Also, BRING PLENTY OF BALLS, otherwise you'll be swimming at some point on the back nine!
The hotel rooms were comfortable, and the free beer went down a treat.
On the downside, when we visited, the fairways were too long and the greens a touch under kept. The food in the hotel was a little dissapointing, especially compared to a similar golf trip we took last year where the food was magnificent; although on the bright side, it meant we had plenty of room left for the beer!
In general would definitely reccommend Bidford.

We visited Bidford last year as a Captains away break taking
16 golfers. The course was extremely difficult with the possibility of being punished for good shots. Not a high handicappers course.
The hotel was very basic but the food of a night was excellent and the free bar was a major plus.
I you are looking for an away break the 3 nights for 2 offer is very good value for money.Take plenty of balls!!
