100 station gym equipped with Pro Core machinery NB - Redevelopment of Hatchford Brook's facilities: December 2013.
It's been a long time since I played Hatchford Brook so my colleague and I decided to give it a try.
To our utter disappointment the course appears to have gone downhill since being took over by the new owners (Mytime Active), a social enterprise and charity company.
Although the course was somewhat damp in places the overall picture was one of neglect and tiredness
The most annoying part of our round was that when we reached the 10th tee there was other players there waiting to tee off who were just playing the back nine, bearing in mind that we teed off at 08:30am and when we reached the tenth it was about 10:00am.
This should never have been allowed because all it causes is a backlog and bad feeling amongst players already on the course playing 18 holes.
This would never have happened when it was run by the Birmingham City council because there was always a cut off time after the first tee off time of the day.
I'm all for a company making money but all this experience has done is to reinforce my decision never to play there again, and if you don't want to be held up I suggest that you avoid Hatch Brook and go somewhere else where the owners have more consideration for genuine players.
It's a shame because Hatchford Brook used to be a nice course to visit but NOT ANY MORE!!

Was a little dubious about going after reading the reviews but we took the plunge anyway. We were lucky with having great sunny weather so we had no issues with water on the greens, no dog mess, no rubbish. Couldn't fault the place or the course. Unfortunately they will soon be ending the food service in the club house which is a shame. Would definitely go back there

Having read the reviews on here we were expecting the worst before arriving at Hatchford Brook, but we found the exact opposite for our experience and I felt I had to write this as Im sure a lot of people are put off because of it.
The course was nice and clean, no dog foul, no chavs, no rubbish etc.
It actually looked very nice in places and in the summer when the trees are green it would be much better.
The only complaint we had was that the bunkers were a bit rough in places but hopefully you wont be spending too much time in those!
We thoroughly enjoyed our game there.

Have to say I agree with the earlier poster, terrible course, dog foul everywhere I keep treading in it, chavs stealing balls and some of the rudest staff i've ever met...the guy behind the counter WHOA chill out buddy i'm only trying to book a tee time! Hey mate there is water on the course...its in the bunkers how about that lagoon on the 9th? that's one top flite I'm not gonna see again!
Agree about food it is nice particularly the breakfasts, shame they didn't put the same effort into the 2nd green as they did into my bacon sandwich.
And to top it off the set of clubs they hired my golfing partner, did not include a putter, no doubt some bozo must of left it on a green somewhere. Sorry Hatchford but I'll take my custom elsewhere...15 quid for 18 on a weekday afternoon jog on, people stay away!

course is very basic no driving range & no buggies. fairways and greens can vary in condition. it is where i learned to play and occasionally still do. the price in summer is stupid for the quality of the course. staff can be quite rude on phone & in shop. food is the best thing about the club its both nice & value for money suggest grade 4 breakfast fill u up. the course is also open to people walkng their dogs & kids from over sheldon country park who wilst i havbe paid ride bikes on course batter the greens with clubs nicked my ball when playing & jump on in front of us.
good points are flat course for all fitnesses the pga professional is very good. the other thing this club misses is any water hazards and bunkers are full of stones and sometimes its like hitting concrete if u have the unfortune of playin temp greens be aware a few are were they just put holes in green. the best moments i had there were my 1st eagle on par 4 7th.
drainage on some holes is that bad that after heavy rainfall on 4this lik playing over 2 deep pools and bunkers can flood making them unplayable

Nice friendly and helpful staff, a course suited to beginners due to fairways forgivingly wide, but challenging for all, and you get to watch airplanes taking off and landing close by! I started my golf here and play everyweek quite happily, prices are reasonable (municipal course) large practice driving area on grass at present but could do with driving range to allow more people to practice. good course!
