About the Course
The Ernie Els Championship Golf Course is managed by Four Seasons. It is in a magnificent setting and features some tough deep bunkers, numerous natural water hazards and 6 oceanside holes and fortunately 5 sets of tees.
Holes 16, 17 and 18 offer stunning views of the ocean, providing one of the most beautiful finishing holes in the world.
Course Reviews
A very new Ernie Els designed course, opened in March 2008. Wide fairways requiring length from the tees with small protected well bunkered greens. Very much a Dubai 'grip it and rip it' type course. Some holes on the back nine are a little mundane, with one hole even having to resort to a Scottish type wall running down the middle to give it some definition. A little odd!!
Being a Four Seasons, the green fees are high and because the greens were still young and well sanded the experience did not match the cost. The green fee in July 2008 was Euro 130 per person for 18 holes. The staff were very enthusiastic but a little overwhelming which was probably because they did not seem very busy. This might well change when the Four Seasons Hotel opens for business proper in November 2008.
A course well worth playing, but the prices need to be competitive given that Touessrok is only 500 metres away on the other side of the channel!! Tim Bird August 6, 2008
