Kanonkop Guest House - Knysna
Enjoy the relaxed luxury, breathtaking views and warm service at beautiful Kanonkop House. Knysna is extremely well positioned on the Garden Route, making it feasible to play a different course every day of the week. We will gladly make all the necessary arrangements for your game of golf.
Description This course winds its way through magnificent indigenous forest in an acclaimed Nature Reserve. There are no intrusive houses or traffic noise but monkeys, birdlife such as the Knysna Loerie, woodpeckers and the occasional deer.
The course is well-maintained and playable all year round.
This is a course for the longer hitters with some relatively short par fours and par fives that are reachable in two. However, three par fours in particular will require a combination of distance and accuracy.

Plett is a challenging but really beautiful course, set in a private nature reserve – a gem not to be missed if you are in the Garden Route.
Standing on the lst tee, the course slopes down the valley towards the recently established dam that attracts all manner of indigenous wildlife, from whitefaced ducks to the shy gysbok (deer).
Errant drives from the men will land you “in the drink” on the left hand side, if not the bunkers and other water on the right!
It is a tight course peppered with trees, which requires precise play to score well. The back nine in particular is incredibly scenic and throws up all kinds of interesting moments. The par 3 llth layout of water, bunkers and a very steep hill on the right hand side produces unexpected results for the uninitiated. Bouncing a ball off the hill can reap amazing results!
Two giant oak trees in the middle of the 14th par 4 fairway also provide branch cracking moments, but watching scratch players hit the green in one shot by taking a “tiger line” is worth its weight in gold.
For me, it’s the resident baboons that provide endless entertainment – the babies are known to run off clutching your ball, never to be seen again.
I would recommend taking a caddy if feasible – the club has an excellent caddy programme, and are appreciative if visitors support this effort.
