Course Reviews

I have only just started playing golf. But this club is not a private one however it is packed all year round. Each hole offers something different, where the fairway narrows and quite a few are tree lined with a narrowing to the greens, with a few tricky bunkers around the greens. The greens are not very large so precautions need to be taken when going for the green from one hundred yards in. The down side is that because so many play on there is a constant pressure to play quicker, or else some players just start to hit the ball towards you. Myself I like to think about the shot and what I am trying to achieve before I play my next shot. I am not a slow player I play around in around 3.5 to 4 hours.

Nice course for a municipal but try getting an early tee off time at the weekend. Impossible. Lines always engaged and staff unfriendly and unhelpful.

Mick White August 11, 2005

Extremely busy pay and play course.

Really playable and enjoyable course that represents excellent value for money which is why it can get quite busy.

Ben Barraclough November 20, 2005

Agree with other comments. This course is busy and rounds are usually in excess of 4 hours. That said for £14 per round at weekends you could do a lot worse. The course has suffered in recent years as it had to be redesigned to make way for Sheffield airport. However its signature hole is the par four 18th with an extremely testing two tiered green. Need to be straight, as trouble can wait around the next corner. Worth looking at.

Good course, staff are helpful, lines are busy but it is worth the trouble to book. Recommend play before November as some of the fairways tend to get soft but the green staff are tackling this.

A well laid out course that's very enjoyable with very well maintained greens, i have only experienced booking problems when leaving it till the last minute & usually manage a round on there once a week and get the time i want give or take 10 mins, definitely one of the best council run courses in Sheffield.

Well matured challenging parkland course which is well the £14 green fee. I've played courses with £30 and more green fees which are no way near as good as this one. Unfortunately it gets too busy and is very hard to get booked onto phones are mostly engaged and rarely get answered. If you can cope with the slow play Tinsley is a brilliant course with every thing you would want whatever level of golfer you are.

A particularly challenging but forgiving course. Extremely well maintained, even the wooded and out of bounds areas, many of which I found myself in on a regular basis. Highly recommended for beginners!

Very nice course. I really enjoyed my walks in the woods. I am somewhat confused about previous reviews complaining about course being busy and slow play, I was playing this course at least eight hours and there was nobody in front of me.
